I'm looking for a new monitor and a friend recommended 120hz as he says it makes a huge difference. I'm looking for something around 27 inch" but a lot of the monitors sometimes don't post the max hz. Are most 120hz monitors 3d? Does anyone know any 120hz monitors that are not 3D? Does it really make that much of a difference too? A lot of monitors I see only have the response time posted
Thanks for any help, monitors aren't really my specialty,

While some 120Hz monitors may not necessarily be 3D, all 3D monitors have to support 120Hz in order to work. I have never seen any non-3D 120Hz monitors and that's not surprising considering that basically any 120Hz monitor can be easily advertised as 3D-capable. There are some 120Hz monitors that are not packaged with a set of 3D glasses though, which makes them fairly cheaper if you don't really care about the 3D.
Does 120Hz make a difference? Yes. A 120Hz monitor feels much smoother than a regular 60Hz. If you have ever played on a CRT monitor and compared it to an LCD, you would definitely know the difference. CRT monitors and good 120Hz monitors are about the same in terms of input lag - <1ms. In comparison, a regular 60Hz LCD monitor depending on its matrix would have an input lag of 20ms++.
Also keep in mind that the response time you see labeled on monitors has little or nothing to do with their actual input lag, which on average is much higher than the monitor's response time.

Do you know of any good 120hz monitors that don't come bundled with a pair of 3d glasses? I'd love to find a 120hz monitor at more reasonable price.

I guess whether they come with glasses or not would depend on the retailer, but here's some decent monitors that probably come without:
LG W2363D-PF
BenQ XL2410T / XL2420T
Asus VG236HE / VG236H (with glasses)
The LG seems to have practically no input lag, while BenQ's is very low if any at all. They all have a matte screen except the Asus, which is glossy.
