While I spent a large part of my time during the stress test playing with movement speed and swiftness I barely scratched the surface of combat movement speed. For now all I know is that while you are in combat your movement speed is slowed by some amount.

Did anyone test it?

I dont believe it makes a difference being in and out of combat. I was playing structured pvp abit and I used swiftness I didnt see any difference in and out of combat.

There's definitely a difference I felt as well, didn't quantify though. If you get tagged going from point to point in WvW I think you'll notice it.

I noticed it, it felt like a 10% speed reduction but I can't tell the exact numbers and I want to know them for an upcoming mechanics blog post for mechanics you can't find on the wiki.

Yes, I also noticed this slight decrease in speed whilst playing in combat. I would like to know how much by specifically.. especially if its based on weapons!

That'd be interesting, though it seems unlikely. Of course, we all know you can run faster while wielding a knife.

I thought it was just me noticing this. While in combat I would be able to move at a good speed and use attacks with no slowdown of speed however while out of combat sometimes running from point to point in WvW if I take out my rifle and shoot the speed will slow for the duration of the animation.

I definitely noticed it. The easiest way to tell is that a Charr runs on all fours when he's at 100% and once you're in combat he only uses his hind legs and is a bit slower. This doesn't annoy me nearly as much as the slower strafing speed, though.

I don't have a problem with it aslong as we can discover a way to make a buff/support build to counter-act it, Speed buffs are great! ;D

I think you are right. When the weapon is out and you are " ready to fight" you move a bit slower. Although as others have said I did not quantify how much.

According to the Guild Wars 2 Wiki, the movement speed is increased whenever the weapon is stowed. (or decreased whenever a character grabs a weapon)
But there's no exact percentage in that article. I'd guess 15%.

Regarding speed buff builds, all swiftness buffs are here: http://wiki.guildwar.../wiki/Swiftness
And I know Ranger's Quickening Zephyr also boosts speed, but that is only for yourself and your pet.

Good point. I noticed that charr would stand in combat. Never thought that this would be a physical way to see speed increase and decrees

I definately noticed this a ton. It made me feel ridiculously slow while in combat. To me at least, it felt about even with combat if I had a 15% movement speed buff on while in combat (such as ele dagger trait). So somewhere around 15%.

Figured I'd mention you can assign a hotkey to stow your weapon.

Good to know. I didn't exactly study the various things you can bind, and it got annoying always being so slow cause I was messing around with a skill :P
