I'll give it a try. For people wondering when you log into gamestop and get the key you simply apply it to your account or make a new one and you immediately get access to the game from Friday, May 11 at 9am PST until Sunday, May 13 at 11:59pm PST! If you want some more information on The Secret World I'll post some below.
The Secret World (formerly known under the working titles Cabal and The World Online) is an upcoming MMORPG from developer Funcom (makers of Anarchy Online and Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures), the development of which has been officially confirmed on March 6, 2007. The final title of the project was confirmed on May 11, 2007.[8] Ragnar Tørnquist is the creative director of the game.

I got an invite. I'm incredibly interested in the game because a modern fantasy setting sounds awesome, but I don't think the game will be justify the cost of the game + monthly fees.

Just have to say, Holy shit this website that they have isn't very good. It has far to many steps, we had to get someone to Register on the Age of Conan site because it wouldn't work for them and I personally had to register two additional accounts, sign like 2 agreements and then confirm my email for an account that I've had since Anarchy Online launched.
The website is the only issue for me, the game looks fun though, I've been following it for a few months.

I got a Beta invite two days ago... still have no idea how to navigate their awful site well enough to register / download.

What we ended up having to do for Soulstich was the following.
1. Register on one of their other sites (Age of Conan, Anarchy Online, Bloodline Champions). Make sure you verify your email after registering.
2. Click on TSW on the drop-down game account menu or the top "My account" menu.
3. On the bottom left of the site is a CD Key / Serial Key box, enter the key you were given in that box.
4. Register a new account for just TSW, they call it a Game Account even though you already have a perfectly usable account which you use to get into your billing junk and account info.
5. Download the game.

Woah.. sorry, I had no problems registering and downloading the beta client.
I haven't watched any videos of the game play. I probably should. I'm more interested in a game that promises no leveling and maybe conflict that isn't fighting/killing. I'll be intrigued to see if they can make the game play interesting with spy-games, espionage, and subterfuge.

Just got an email from "The Secret World" MMO newsletter that I signed up for and forgot about some time last year. I don't know much about it, but they are offering weekend passes to the beta if you pre order. Any thoughts on this game? I know it is based on 3 factions, but that's about all I know. Anyone else plan on playing this game, or the weekend beta?
BTW the live game comes out June 19, 2012.

I signed up and all that. Not too interested in the game but I have nothing better to do. Who knows, maybe it'll be ok and last me til GW2.

I'm downloading the beta client right now and might be playing a bit this weekend.
I'm not optimistic about the long term success of the game because (from what I understand) you have to buy the game and maintain a subscription, and I don't think that model works any more.
BUT, the promise of no levels, an urban fantasy setting, and the thought that a faction conflict can develop through spy game type espionage and subterfuge are all in its favor.

My invite began on the 8th... will play a bit on the 9th and see how it treats me. Like others have said, I'm not expecting much but its not like I have much better to play right now. Might change my mind quick if I really hate it like I did TOR.

Thanks for the input guys; turns out you don't have to pre order to test this weekend, just need a gamestop account and they provide a key. I'm not sure what the guys name was but someone in TS told me yesterday about this.
