Hey guys, this last Christmas I "Revamped" My PC and finally made the switch to DDR3.

Here is my DXDIAG for my specs.

Spoiler

Basically what I'm really looking for is your guy's opinion on the potential my current build has on Overclocking. As playing the GW2 beta, I noticed my CPU was Idle ling at about 60% use which at the time upset me because well I wanted it to use the extent of it's power, and today I realized my Core Unlocker was disabled. So I felt like a dummy. I still have it disabled till I give my PC a thorough cleaning and fan swapping, to make sure nothing overheats.

What I'd like to be able to do is really run Fraps and still get a really nice amount of FPS, I tried fraps on Battlefield 3 with the highest settings and I was running anywhere between 20-35 frames depending on the amount of action going on.

I'm also doing this to get the most out of my money, at this current time I really don't have the budget to do any other upgrades or replacements.

I don't run stock heatsink this is the one I use http://www.newegg.co...=Thermaltake v1

As far as experience with computers I work at Mushkin Enhanced, I don't know a whole lot about overclocking myself, but as a tester of these parts I do have to change timings and voltages quite a bit, and I do understand overclocking is different on every machine and I'll have to take time and play with it while doing tests. I just want some insight. :)

Thank you guys for reading this, hope to hear from you.

In case you don't know the beta overused cpu's and underused gpu's.
What i mean is that we should wait for next beta (if they fix the cpu usage on the next beta) before making any decisions regarding hardware. They tested the game on some really old machines, so in theory when they optimize the game you should be able to run the game smoother, so don't buy anything or O'c anything in the meantime. It's not worth it at this point.

Yeah, I heard about that. There are other reasons behind wanting to do this as well, I'm just looking to see if you guys think my build has a good potential to do so incase say they optimize it pretty well in the next few builds and I still don't get the framerate I'm looking for. ^^

I think you should be safe with that setup. Like i said, they tested GW2 on discontinued machines on purpose, to allow GW2 to run on pretty much every computer out there now. We'll just have to wait and see how the next BWE will behave. (assuming they fix the whole cpu usage thing).

For your OC question, I think, with that cooler, you can, easily push your system to 4.0Ghz without seeing problems. I, honestly, haven't OC'd AMD products as they've historically had heat issues, but if memory serves, the Phenom II and later lines addressed that signiciantly.
