I know many of us have icons next to our names and what not but I am curious for a count on which classes are the most popular at the moment. I realize many of you will change maybe even before the game is released.

GW2Guru has a poll with about 2k+ voters and the trends showed that most were relatively even, with a max of 13%ish and a minimum of 9.5%, the majority at about 11 or 12%. Thief will always be a favorite (I think) because of the stealth mechanic, and then there will be your mage-only crowd which I guess is the elementalist? IDK, but with the game being non-trinity based I bet the professions are much more even a few months after release.

Ranger, all the way.
I wanted to roll a thief, but it seems like everyone is rolling a thief. :/
Lol that is exactly what I'm thinking of doing... >.<

Great minds think alike, but maybe I want to roll a necromancer.
I guess I will have to play all the classes during the beta, and then go from there.

If I've learned anything from playing MMO's its to roll the profession that you want to play, regardless of how many others might be playing it as well. If you turn away from your favorite profession due to that aspect alone it will bite you in the end.

Yep, I completely agree. If you're competitive and worried about being left out because too many people can fulfill your role, just remember that as long as you are the best at the over played profession, you are equally as important as every other profession. If I've learned anything from playing MMO's its to roll the profession that you want to play, regardless of how many others might be playing it as well. If you turn away from your favorite profession due to that aspect alone it will bite you in the end.

I'l definitely try out the Guardian in the open beta, Guardian still has the cool vibe since they released it.

Ill probably roll Ranger just for PVE and to see the world... probably roll Guardian for real PVP WvW action.

Ranger ranger everywhere! I have no problem playing along side the many in the Ranger clan since loot isn't shared and there are so many different possible play styles.
In WoW a hunter was a hunter, there was a 99% chance you used a bow to do most of you damage, yeah you might be a different spec, but either way you went pew pew. In GW2 you can go pew pew, slash slash, stab stab, blow your horn, and more, so I have no problem sharing my class with the many obviously smart people who want to play it.

My first and only character will be my ranger, but in OB next week, I will not be playing a ranger. I will use that time to gain some knowledge on other classes before I have to learn about my class I'm playing when the game is live.
