WvW is 2 weeks long. Suggest you play WoW if that king of dungeon raiding is what you are looking for.

I think we can theorize (please source me if they've already cleared this up) that meta-events could take a few days to complete and I think they've said that some will require some number of people (not as scalable down as your average DE).

Meta-Events don't take that long, they're just really long event chains that tell a story about the area.

Ah okay, so I shouldn't try to compare them to say Molten Core. Good to know.

I personally think content that spans multiple days just adds to the epicness of the content. Look at the history of WoW raiding, and some of the best raiding I've done was too large to finish in 1-2 nights. When you just waltz right on in for you weekly loot and not even think about what you're doing, something is wrong...

WvW is GW2's raiding. You won't find 6 hour long dungeons, unless you just die over and over. I think that's a good thing, and it's just the way MMOs are moving. Most people are busy and can't commit to a solid 6 hour play session. WvW allows you to jump in and out when you want, while still getting your "raid" fix. Plus it's versus other players which adds difficulty and a social element. Amazing system, really.

I think I should have been more specific. By raid length I don't mean making an instance ridiculously long and packing it with trash and 15 bosses just for the sake of it taking forever. I mean having difficult mechanics for a decent amount of bosses and maybe even some mobs so that it naturally takes longer to complete. Raiding for me is also a way to hang out with a lot of guildmates/friends because its pretty much the only time we're all guaranteed to be online, and that doesn't happen when we're all sleeping through encounters and no one shows up for the other days.

I guess in that sense WvW can fulfill the raiding needs of lots of people.

Well, we haven't even seen any of the meta events, or the high level bosses yet, so right now we can't really speak on how difficult the mechanics will be or how long it will take. Using the Shadow Behemoth as an example, it has some good mechanics there already, it just needs to have its damage tuned to be more difficult. Some of the boss attacks only take ~%30 health off of a level 12, and I think that should be much higher. You should have to doge those attacks, or die.
