I can only assume that half of the cheering came from our guys in the audience. Also, after hearing the last bit of it (particularly the bit of handing out beta keys) I can only hope you guys were there to pick some up for your good friends over here (*wink*wink*).

This part of the panel discussed Guild Wars 2 exclusively:

With Prepurchases on tuesday giving beta keys will these beta key cards even be useful to us? I think almost everyone is prepurchasing arent they?

"We've made the game a little harder"
Yes! So few devs listen to beta woes, and despite them being ArenaNet I doubted they'd pay much attention to the cries that things were a little too easy last beta. Also excited at the announcement of beta keys. I've got a couple pals who want try GW2 but won't have the money to pre-purchase for a while. Maybe that IGN Prime account or PC Gamer subscription will prove to be useful for once.

As I understand it, pre-purchase will only give us access to specific "beta weekend events" which might not mean the same as core beta access.

I'm 99% sure that these keys being handed out are only for BWEs, it's mostly just a good marketing move from ArenaNet (they also need to stress test with as many people as possible too, so it helps out with that as well), they just handed out 3 beta keys per person, and I'm pretty sure not everyone in there that didn't know about GW2 will try it out at least once, and have 2 friends try it out with them.

That makes sense to me... particularly due to the audience and giving out two extra per person makes me thing it definitely is for BWEs.
