If I went back 10 years and told myself that MMORPGs would be rapidly going free to play while shooters like COD and BF would have monthly subscriptions, I would have been so confused..... Heck I'm still confused...

While I agree with the MMO part, (Although less years for me, as I'd only be 9 then:p) the CoD thing isn't a monthly subscription. It's pretty much a DLC season pass.If I went back 10 years and told myself that MMORPGs would be rapidly going free to play while shooters like COD and BF would have monthly subscriptions, I would have been so confused..... As for Battlefield 3, I bought it like two monthes ago, but have only put in like 15 hours. It's fun, but I guess I'd rather just play other FPS games. Mostly Team Fortress 2 and Pirates, Vikings and Knights 2.

L4D2 is a lot of fun, but you are very much prone to trolling / a miserable time if you aren't grouped with friends. I would also dare say that the game can get pretty old, quick if you don't find ways to entertain yourself. This is partially because of the linear play. When you've ran the same route, setup on the same spot, and 25-damage pounced the same area a million times the game just loses its luster. They might go pay-to-play while hackers are common. Their day are numbered. It's a shame cause it's my first paid modern shooter game and i worked hard to unlocked every weapons. Time to consider L4D2.
Orz plays a lot, and I play from time to time, so there's 3/4 to prevent miserable games :]

Yeah, you're right. It's not as bad as it's exaggerated to be. I just miss the old days where you bought the game and everything was unlocked and ready to go... Oh nostalgia! Get off my lawn and such!

Yeah buying L4D2 would be a poor decision. What's upsetting is that L4D2 was never supposed to be released as its own game, but as a huge content patch for L4D. Grubby Gabe saw the opportunity for money and ran with it. I still prefer original L4D, but no one hardly plays it anymore... Good thing I can strictly stick to playing No Mercy and Blood Harvest! :]I used to have a team in L4D, and it was damn fun!! I would buy L4D2 without hesitation but I can't since I am saving for GW2! Lucky for us it's just 10 more days until we can pre-purchase.
Not to mention competitive L4D2 is dead / never really existed.

Wow. That seems a little over the top. And also the pay to play is the ability to buy all unlockables for a certain kit (example: Assault, engineer, vehicle type, etc). I believe TB covered a question about this in BF3 yesterday in his mailbox. It might be worth listening to.

Thanks for heads up. Good stuff. If i were to buy an unlock, it'd be air vehicle for the ECM Jammer that i can use with MAV. I suck with air vehicles so i can never see the use of ECM in my play...

I'm basically bored with BF3 to the point where I sometimes login start a game... and then just leave after 5-10 min because it's boring...
It's really sad since I liked it, and still like it more than CoD

The thing that did it for me with BF3 was the fact that, as much as people denied it, it was essentially BFBC3 and not a sequel to BF2. Everything about it was just another game, and as a hardcore BF2/2142 player, I was EXTREMELY let down.
I still have it installed, havent played it in months.
