Thief only Legendary = Death Ray. I could see some Brass Knuckles or Gauntlets for some H2H

I'd love to see Whips or Halberds, possibly something like Gauntlets for hand to hand or even grappling style melee combat. Whips would be a big one, they could work for Mesmer's, Thieves, Rangers, Necromancers and even Elementalists!

Whips, hah, I remember when there was a rumor they were being added to GW1.

http://www.gamespot.com/unions/139/forums/24013028

We would never see them though, implied animal cruelty and whatnot.

Yea, but EVERY weapon would be used to imply such cruelty... Anyways, enough of that. Whips I could see being awesome for eles!

Whips could fit very well.

Flails would be amazing. I love those weapons and they're underused in games these days.

I don't see how axe, sword, or any current Ranger weapons imply animal cruelty? Whips are well known to be used by animal trainers, to herd animals, or as riding crops. I would love to see the whip on other classes though, I agree it could look cool with Ele spells (hell we already have lightning whip).

I'm partidary of making skins for weapons to sell as a cosmetic stuff, short bow a crossbow, 2h sword as a battleaxe and such because adding more weapons will be like redound the skills we already have.

I think they'll add new weapons in expansions. (Scythe, anyone? Remember Dervishes?)

This would give them the ability to add new weapons (and therefore weapon skills) to pre-expansion classes, though that might be awkward for certain weapon types.

I for one love the idea of a crossbow or a Scythe as a weapon. Scythe would be for Necros (duh) and warriors at least, and be focused on AE damage (bleeds for the necro, AE slashing damage for the warrior). The x-bow I would have for thief and rangers only, being mostly about CC, with more damage, but longer CDs due to the nature of the xbow (more difficult reload but it most cases more power in the shot).

This game definitely needs whips. I made a post about it on Reddit awhile back. This seems like an appropriate place to repost it.

Warrior

Offhand only
  • 4. Immobilize your Foe for 1 second. Then Launch him behind you.
  • 5. Whip Enemy. % Chance to cause either Daze, Weakness, or Vulnerability on Crit

Engineer

Main Hand Only
  • 1. Whip your Foe-> Whip Twice and inflict bleeding on crit->Whip a third time, your next attack crits.
  • 2. Pull your Foe towards you, inflict blindness on crit
  • 3. Ignite your whip and attack your foe multiple times, causing burning

Thief

Main Hand
  • 1. Whip your foe-> Whip foe twice-> Whip foe for a final time and Daze (and Vulnerability on crit)
  • 2. Grapple your foe and fling towards him, gaining swiftness.
  • 3. Whip your foe and miss because you're only using one weapon, what is wrong with you?
  • 3w/whip. Attack your foe multiple times with each whip Gaining quickness
  • 3w/pistol. Cripple target foe and attack with pistol. deals more damage the closer you are to target
  • 3w/dagger. Knockdown Enemy and inflict damage and poison with dagger

Offhand
  • 3w/sword. Deflect next attack with whip, counter attack with sword (damage could vary based on skill countered?)
  • 3w/dagger. Attach your dagger to the end of your whip and unleash a flurry of attacks, Critical hits do more damage and inflict bleeding.
  • 3w/pistol. Fling yourself over your foe->Fire a well aimed shot for high damage
  • 4. Shadowstep to your Target and Immobilize them->Shadowstep back (Had more to this, but forgot it)Remembered thanks to minitriv
  • 5. Blind target and escape into stealth

Ranger

Main Hand/Off Hand
  • 1. Attack with your whip, each consecutive hit reduces cooldown. (resets if another skill is used)
  • 2. Whips all allies and enemies in range. Grants Might, Protection, or Regeneration too allies, and inflicts either Blind, Cripple, or Weakness to enemies randomly. (depending on personality/personal story?)
  • 3. Attack an enemy multiple times, inflicting Vulnerability
  • 4. Whip your pet into shape. Granting it Fury and Might
  • 5. Knockdown your enemy and cripple him.

Being an MMO the whips in this game would not be your average Indiana Jones whip, but more like Ivy's weapon from Soul Calibur, but more over-the-top. The weapon itself could have increased range to other melee weapons but cause less damage. Being a light weapon though the cooldowns are very short.

I'm not creative enough to come up with names for these skills.

I can't see the crossbow ever being a ranger weapon. It fits much better as a warrior weapon, because crossbows are slow to reload and are fairly unwieldy.

Abyssal whip? Lol.

The Rule of Cool dictates that crossbows are one-handed weapons that can be dual-wielded by Rangers and/or Thieves.

It's too good an opportunity to pass up, honestly; even Blizzard recognizes this simple truth.

I also think that crossbows fit the warrior, thief, and engineer better than ranger. Reason I say engineer is I think about arbalests and that crossbows are the 1 step between bows and guns. Engineer could also use another weapon choice that is not a kit.

You won't see stuff like that in the cash shop. If they do add weapons to the cash shop, it will be only be cosmetic skins.

I've heard that for causal PvP there is suppsed to be an odd assortment of games to play. One has Rocket Launchers in it... :D I wouldn't mind an xBow tho... Loved it in FFXI, with status effect bolts. Personally think every Thief should have one... Don't leave home w/o it.

here is a unique idea. The engineer could have an electrical cord and run around shocking people. like mainhand would be some kind of cable connected to a powersupply on his back. Basically a flamethrower but an electrical varient.

Personally Halberds/Spears and some 2H Axes would be nice. Crossbows, IMO, could easily be done as different look for longbows.

I think crossbows would be more similar to short bows, but they also have a slow load time. I think they left them out in favor of pistols. =3

I think whips would be cool, even an off hand weapon! And I think the hand/claw weapon would be a possibility for an expack (It would take new animations). But I would love to see them!

I love claw weapons as well. A claw wielding shaman/druidy class (legit shaman, none of that magic crap) would make me incredibly happy.

An interesting idea could be a voodoo doll, with some sort of needle in the offhand. Go around inflicting pain on enemies with your little doll... Doubt it would ever happen, but it would be pretty funny

LoL IGN: HiJaxed, message me for a game!
