My wife and I have been playing around with some Guild Wars 2 music - coming up with different arrangements for fun. Last night we jammed on the "Gamescom Intro" and I recorded the audio on our video camera. Here it is:

It is far from perfect as we don't own real recording equipment and are too busy to go through separate takes.
Enjoy!

That sounds really nice! I'm a sucker for strings. This track gets me every time

I have heard worse come from professional recording studios. Thanks for posting it. I enjoyed it.
........ I really need to get my studio equipment out and do some recording. I haven't done any since I moved to GA in '08............ I want to believe it is like riding a bicycle, but something tells me that is not true.

Who's on the keys?
That's me on one of our school's pianos. I'm self taught and not terribly good but have been playing around with this piece for a couple of weeks for fun. My wife played a friend's violin. She's a music teacher and can play a little bit of everything.

Thanks for the great response everyone. We had a ton of fun playing it and messing with it so I just had to record it and share it with you guys.

Feel free to.. that would be pretty neat. Just wish the sound quality was stronger. Maybe someone in the guild is experienced with this sort of stuff and can give me some pointers (i.e. hardware, software, etc.)?

Well, I have an M-Box 2. It is basically a dongle key to Pro-Tools, the industry standard for professional recording software. You can get the M-Box for 150-300 dollars based on used vs new and it will turn your computer into a recording studio.
You can lay down scratch tracks and go back and do over......... anything you want. There are plug ins for the software, but you can do just about anything with the base software. The one thing that it does not do well is master the final recording. I prefer Soundforge for that, but it has been a while since they pirate proofed that software and I just deal with un-mastered recordings.
Be careful though. You can quickly spend more money on a home recording setup than you ever imagined.

Thanks for info. Sadly, Pro-Tools 10 = 700$, M-box = 200$, plus who knows what else. Just way too high for my crap income. I'll think about it again in a few years as I'd really love to one day be able to put together some quality recordings with my wife.
