Announcement: Forum Rules - "The Way Things Work"

Posted by Freelancer

The Way Things Work

There are a couple of rules you need to know if you plan on posting here. Please take a moment to review them. They're very simple and easy to follow, and if you disagree, well frankly we don't care. Move along.

Use the search function on the forum first. If we find you guilty of extreme laziness, and create a new thread that is already covered in depth elsewhere, that's a problem.

Guessing what comes next in a topic isn't proper. Forum thread titles should give a clear picture of what the thread is about.

Use the tools and field available in your profile. The fields in your profile, such as contact information, go a long way as to help us understand you. If you cannot take the time to fill the basic ones out, why should we assume you have time for anything else?

Do not feed the trolls. If you see a post that is blatantly breaking a rule, or just completely derailing a thread, do not take it upon yourself to act as the authority to warn them in response. Simply use the report function, and a moderator will take care of it.

We speak English here. While this is the internet, try to make the effort of avoiding "leetspeak" and related terms. In the same regard, horrible spelling to the point of making moderators rip their hair out will also be acted upon. Use your spell check and avoid conflict.

Make opinions count. If your responding to a post with an opinion, that's fine, but by simply stating your opinion and not offering any room for discussion opens the door for flaming and less-than-intelligent debate. "I don't like that. That sucks" is not a proper response. Get the idea? Explain why it sucks.

Flaming and baiting should be obvious. Much like the response to trolls, do not add to the fire. Such an action as to incite negative response intentionally will result in instant bans. Grow up.

No racial, political, religious, or sexually explicit posts, material, or links.. This is also not the place to further your social agenda outside of the gaming environment. While it was discussed many times over, we've decided through experience that religious or political debates never end well, and to eliminate likely problem threads, just to remove them entirely. Do not post anything in regards to racial, religious, political, or sexually explicit material, nor link to it. Also, this isn't the place to push for a cause outside of the gaming environment (e.g. making a post about how all mouses should have 11 buttons is fine, posting to save the grey squirrels for an organization is not). Consider very closely who your audience is and who you might offend through your post. This includes videos on Youtube. You've been warned.

If you don't like it, leave. We will moderate and remove content going against our guidelines and vision at will, and without question. You will respect the image we strive to maintain or leave. If you had one of your images or posts removed, you're welcome to contact an admin via PM.

Enjoy your stay among friends. With all of these rules that border extreme, keep in mind that we are in an unforgiving place called the internet. Rules like these need to be stated ahead of time to give a fair warning. I think you will find in a short amount of time however, that the people in the community and moderation team are as fun and outgoing as they come.

We have the ability to remove objectionable messages and we will make every effort to do so, within a reasonable time frame, if we determine that removal is necessary. You agree, through your use of this forum, that you will not use this bulletin board to post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise violative of any law.

Objectionable and outright offensive material will be removed without warning, and user will receive a "warn" point on their status. If any user receives 3 warns within a 7 day a week period, they will receive a temporary ban. Repeat offenders will simply be permabanned.

Thanks for joining us in the quest for a "smarter" forum discussion board.
